Plat-inggg. Plat-inggg. (You have no idea how long it took for me to try to describe that annoying sound.)
And speaking of annoying, I paid good money for that thing, and already it needs a washer or something. Another item for my man's honey-do-list.
Then I thought: if I was in Somalia, or a desert in Iraq or somewhere else people's throats are parched...I'll bet a plat-inggg drip would be music to my ears, soul and tongue. It's all about context. I have no needs. My fridge is stocked. Costco-sized dry goods line the shelves in my pantry. And that annoying drip comes from some of the tastiest, coldest water God's green earth affords--straight from a Northern BC river. But stick that drip where people long for a swig of water? It's straight from Heaven.
And so I ask. What kind of drip are you? Does your life--your words and deeds-- influence and enrich those who need Christ? Are you a blessed presence for people whose souls are parched for truth? Or do you primarily hang with folks who have everything? They know Christ, they're stuffed, overwatered even.
Jesus was a drip who came for the brokenhearted, downcast and empty. He filled them with Living Water, when they reached for Him. Our part in the Church is to be--spending time with Jesus, individually and corporately. Learning and sharing about Him, so that when we are called to drip into a thirsty world, people will recognize Him as the life-giver. We might be the drip, but He will get the glory.

Oh, Marilyn. How exciting to be challenged like this. we, on the whole, don't realize that we who call ourselves Followers of Jesus are being watched by the world...whatever world we are hanging around. I asked a congregation of a UMC church here in MN how many knew someone of their acquaintance who would go to Hell if he/she died today. Four people raised their hands. Now, maybe they were bashful about such a question..or startled! FOUR PEOPLE! I was a bit brusque: "You folks need to hang around more sinners!" They haven't invited me back.
I will place this blog on my page!
