In this day and age? Right. Those are terms we rarely hear. But I've been experiencing them in the last few weeks.
I picked up a Terry's Chocolate Orange. I mean, yum! And hey, they were on sale too. As I sauntered around the store, looking for the one sore throat medicine I came in for, I began to doubt.
Do I really need it? My hips certainly don't. And that 4+ bucks could buy most of a jug of milk for me and my babies. Up and down a few aisles. They didn't carry my sore throat medicine.
So I walked toward the exit. There sat the display, strategically placed for me to see the chocolate bombs on sale.
I put it back. And smiled. And waltzed out...in control...having denied myself something I didn't need.
Man it felt good!

Good for you! Ever watch "Till Debt do us Part"? (I watch it on the computer) Very inspiring to help make ends meet!

Yeah, I love that show! Our biggest incentive is that our personal Financial Assistant has offered to phone once a month for the next 6 years (or debt-freeness), to make sure we've stuck to the debt repayment budget! And one thing lacking on the TV show is the encouragement to follow Scripture's teaching on tithing. God gets the firstfruits :) And even apart from Biblical teaching, so many people don't know about the tax benefits of giving to charitable organizations.
